Why Keep Your Firmware Updated
Laptop firmware updates cover the BIOS/UEFI, embedded controller, and sometimes trackpad or display controllers. These updates improve battery life, fix thermal throttling, patch security vulnerabilities, and can resolve issues with sleep/wake cycles. Back up important data before updating and keep your laptop plugged in during the process.
